ON MY RADAR: New England Prep

Posted by Hilary at 3:07 PM 0 comments
Recently I've been obsessed with what I call the New England Prep look. Basically this is fitted sweaters, L.L Bean boots, Plaid, tights, comfortable/cozy meets classy, with loads of nautical and outdoor themes. Below are a few pictures that have really inspired me this week. Leave a comment below about what you think of the New England Prep look!

Philosophy

Posted by Hilary at 6:02 PM 0 comments
I am currently in the market for a new skincare line since I have just about finished off the last of my origins checks and balances face wash. Naturally, I wanted to "explore" the other products out on the market to see if I could find anything that worked better for my skin. I had heard of philosophy before through a friend and read the reviews online which overall seemed pretty positive.

Being a bargain shopper I didn't want to jump to conclusions and purchase a full size product so I thought of my wonderful plan! My mom and I were planning a shopping trip so I decided to stop into Sephora to grab a sample! I ended up picking up purity made simple and hope in a jar by philosophy. Now I typically won't do a review until I have tried it out for weeks but I feel very strongly about this product.
Needless to say, I HATED IT! The face wash was not terrible but the moisturizer.... Oh my goodness had the most horrible smell. It was not a smell that went away either. I could smell it all day! Maybe it's just me, having a smell aversion but man oh man it literally made me feel sick to my stomach. Or maybe the sample was expired.... benefit of the doubt.
I will not be continuing the use of this product nor will I be purchasing it in the future. And even though the face wash was not terrible, I am a firm believer that face product lines are made to work together so I would not use one product from a line and another product from another line. I really wanted to like it because the packaging is so cute, but I just can't.
Let me know if you liked this line of skin care or what you suggest for skin care! Until next time!

Mane n' Tail Shampoo & Conditioner Review

Posted by Hilary at 9:53 AM 0 comments

Yes this is a horse shampoo but it also can be used for humans and pets! I've heard a lot about the Mane n' Tail shampoo and conditioner and decided to give it a shot. I've been using it for about two months now so I feel comfortable giving my honest opinion on the product.

Here's a little background. Like many girls out there I've been trying to grow out my hair but it just seems like it's taking an eternity. I've researched and researched tips and tricks on growing out your hair faster and came across quite a few that made sense and some that didn't. As you probably guessed Mane n' Tail popped up and I decided to give it a try. I mean.... who doesn't want long silky hair like a horse??? I have to admit I felt a bit odd buying it at Walmart when the cashier asked how many horses I had... looking back at the situation it was pretty hilarious.

So here's my review:

Pros-
  • Smells great: light and floral
  • Cheap: Around 4 dollars for 32 Fl Oz. (found at Walmart in the pet department)
  • Makes your hair shiny
  • I found my hair was secured in a braid easier...
Cons-
  • Awkward to buy
  • Feels waxy after continued use and felt like it built up
  • Didn't feel like it deep cleaned my roots
  • Conditioner didn't detangle as much as I needed it to
Overall, I really liked the smell, the price and how it seemed to make my hair stay in my chosen hairstyle of the day. I didn't really notice a HUGE difference in shine and it didn't make my hair less oily. I hated the waxy feeling and the fact that my hair never felt clean. I enjoyed trying the product and will use it up, but will not repurchase it in the future.
