Mane n' Tail Shampoo & Conditioner Review

Posted by Hilary at 9:53 AM

Yes this is a horse shampoo but it also can be used for humans and pets! I've heard a lot about the Mane n' Tail shampoo and conditioner and decided to give it a shot. I've been using it for about two months now so I feel comfortable giving my honest opinion on the product.

Here's a little background. Like many girls out there I've been trying to grow out my hair but it just seems like it's taking an eternity. I've researched and researched tips and tricks on growing out your hair faster and came across quite a few that made sense and some that didn't. As you probably guessed Mane n' Tail popped up and I decided to give it a try. I mean.... who doesn't want long silky hair like a horse??? I have to admit I felt a bit odd buying it at Walmart when the cashier asked how many horses I had... looking back at the situation it was pretty hilarious.

So here's my review:

Pros-
  • Smells great: light and floral
  • Cheap: Around 4 dollars for 32 Fl Oz. (found at Walmart in the pet department)
  • Makes your hair shiny
  • I found my hair was secured in a braid easier...
Cons-
  • Awkward to buy
  • Feels waxy after continued use and felt like it built up
  • Didn't feel like it deep cleaned my roots
  • Conditioner didn't detangle as much as I needed it to
Overall, I really liked the smell, the price and how it seemed to make my hair stay in my chosen hairstyle of the day. I didn't really notice a HUGE difference in shine and it didn't make my hair less oily. I hated the waxy feeling and the fact that my hair never felt clean. I enjoyed trying the product and will use it up, but will not repurchase it in the future.
