When I first started getting into makeup I was very fascinated with the "bronzed" sun-kissed look and would find myself trying out all kinds of bronzers. Of course they never quite looked the same on me as they did on the models and my face often looked 4 shades darker than the rest of my body. A few years later tanning really started becoming a trend and I knew right away that this too was not going to work. I mean I could try but I knew from past attempts it always ended up in painful sunburns and an over population of freckles on my nose.
As time went on it became pretty evident that tan skin was not in my future and that was something I just needed to accept. And then twilight came into the picture. A book solely about beautiful, perfect pale people (of course they were vampires but that's beside the point). I saw how beautiful pale skin was and how confident they were. I wanted all of that...the confidence... the paleness...the perfection! So as clique as it sounds- twilight was my turning point from wanting tan skin to loving my pale skin.
So now that you have my "pale story" I wanted to share something with all of you that really struck me. If you go tanning and have pale skin please watch this video. Often times people don't realize that a little color change is skin damage and years from now you will regret it.
One message I hope to spread with this blog is that it's okay to love the skin you are in and that protecting your skin is one of the most important things you can do for yourself! Feel free to leave comments about your skin or reactions to this video.
